Who we are

About us

Here at Ladywood Leisure centre, we are a charitable community centre located in Penicuik, run by Penicuik Community Sports and Leisure Foundation who are a volunteer board of 10 trustees, a CEO/facility manager, 5 further members of staff and around 30 volunteers.

What do we do?

We prioritise supporting our community, whether it be families, children, teens, adults or elderly. We run a strong number of clubs and groups in order to provide much needed support to our local community.

Why do we run these groups?

Peer support groups offer a safe space for like-minded individuals to communicate and interact. This helps combat social and emotional isolation, we offer groups suitable for all demographics in our community. These include:

  • Community lunch
  • Parent and child groups
  • Youth clubs
  • Social bingo
  • Ageing well program

How do we provide this?

We do this by providing facility hire for local sports teams. We also have Slots on weekends for birthday parties and provide venues for possible planned events and groups. We aim to offer more availability for counselling; the centre is used by Emotional support and counselling services several times a week and we look into expanding these types of services through possible funding allowed to us.
