New kitchen appeal

We would like to say a massive thank you to Howden’s Penicuik who have come to our rescue and donated a new hob and oven which will enable us to deliver our community lunch this week and Christmas Day!

This has been a stressful week but has really shown us the generous spirit of the Penicuik people, we were in desperate need of a working hob and oven originally thinking we would be able to pick up old ones being discarded but instead have the brand new ones gifted by Howden’s Penicuik.

We have long wished for a new kitchen in the centre but realise now it is a necessity. We have set up a donation page on our PayPal account and appeal to anyone who wishes to support our small local charity to donate if they can.

we deliver a weekly Community lunch to between 24 and 30 people, serve a Christmas Day lunch to around 40 people in centre as well as delivering to people who can’t get out, the kitchen is also used daily to serve refreshments to many community groups who use our centre. Our kitchen isn’t a luxury but a necessity to deliver the services we offer.

We hope to raise £15,000 which will let us do a full refurb replace remaining appliances and minor alterations to make the kitchen fit for current purpose,

We are extremely grateful to Councillor Connor McManus has started us off with a £7,500 donation from his environmental fund.
