Centre Fundraising Event

We did it!!!

Last Monday at the Centre we finished the day with broken hob and oven and a leaky roof, fast forward 1 week and the roof is fixed thanks to Buckstone Roofing, we have a new hob and oven thanks to Howden’s Penicuik and we have our £15,000 required to fit the new kitchen in the New Year!!!!

Councillor Connor McManus called on Friday to offer £7,500 towards our new kitchen fund from his environmental budget, we have had a staggering £784.61 in donations from members of the public and then Councillor Debbi Mccall called today to offer the shortfall from her environmental budget.

We are absolutely blown away by the generosity of everyone and how quickly you all came together to save the day and quite literally save Christmas.

Thanks to Buckstone Roofing, Howden’s Penicuik, Cllr McManus, Cllr McCall, members of the public who donated (we need to get permission from them before naming) and Alex from ACP Plumbing and Heating who has already offered help with installation.

We were so busy enjoying cooking the lunch today and forgot to take action shots of the new equipment but we will be sure to chart the progress going forward.

We also want to thank all of our customers who have handed in lovely gifts and cards for myself, staff and volunteers. Thank you so much for taking the time to show your appreciation.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🥳

We’re About The Community…

Ladywood Leisure Centre is a community centre run by staff and volunteers from our community. We have a wide programme of events with high participation across all of our groups.

VOLUNTEERING
VOLUNTEERING
We could not run many of our groups and activities without our wonderful team of volunteers, from our community lunch on a Monday through to parent and child groups on a Friday most of the key people are volunteers. Volunteering is not just about giving up your valuable time it is very rewarding helping other people and a great way to meet new friends.
